JOSAA Counselling 2025
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released the first mock seat allocation for JoSAA Counselling 2025 today, June 9, at 2 PM on its official website — josaa.nic.in. This allocation is based on candidates’ preferences submitted until 8 PM on June 8 using their JEE Main or JEE Advanced 2025 scores.

What is mock seat allocation?

Mock seat allocation allows candidates to see a tentative allotment based on their choices and prevailing cut-offs. This helps them understand possible outcomes and make changes before finalising their preferences.

JoSAA will publish a second mock seat allocation on June 11. It will reflect the choices submitted by candidates up to 5 PM on June 10.

JoSAA Counselling 2025 Registration and Choice Filling process

To begin the JoSAA Counselling 2025 process, candidates must log in using their JEE Main 2025 application number and the corresponding password — either from JEE Main or JEE Advanced, depending on their exam. They must then verify the OTP sent to their registered mobile number and email. After verifying, candidates should review their displayed details, make corrections if necessary, and confirm the registration. Once confirmed, they can move on to the next step — filling in their institute and course preferences.

Final locking deadline: June 12

Candidates must lock their choices by 5 PM on June 12. If they fail to do so, the system will automatically lock the last submitted preferences. Pre-payment of the seat acceptance fee must also be completed by this deadline.

JoSAA Counselling 2025

JoSAA Counselling is conducted for admission into over 100 technical institutes across India. These include the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).

The counselling process includes multiple steps — registration, choice filling, mock allocations, final seat allotment, seat acceptance, and document verification.

Important advice for students

Candidates are advised to prioritise only those institutes and academic programs they are genuinely interested in. “The choices once locked (either manually or by the system) will determine the final seat allotment.”

Students should keep necessary documents ready, such as Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, JEE admit cards, valid category or PwD certificates (if applicable), medical certificates, bank account details, and passport/OCI/PIO documents for foreign nationals.

Seat acceptance fee details

To confirm the allotted seat, candidates need to pay a partial admission fee. The amount is ₹20,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates and ₹45,000 for General, OBC-NCL, and GEN-EWS categories.

Keep checking official updates

Students are advised to regularly check the JoSAA website for updates and complete each step within the deadlines to avoid disqualification or delays in the admission process.
