Actor Johnny Depp will be directing a film after more than two decades of his first directorial. Titled ‘Modi’, it will be based on an artist.

Well, it is a project called Modi, but it is not what you think. It is not a biopic on India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The biopic ‘Modi’ will mark the return to direction of actor Johnny Depp. It will be based on the life of classic Italian artist / painter Amedeo Modigliani, who was known as "Modi" to his friends.

‘Modi’ will be based on a play by Dennis McIntyre, titled ‘Modigliani’, which was written by Jerzy and Mary Kromolowski. The play showed the 48 hours in the life of the painter that became a turning point in his life and earned him fame.
‘Modi’ the film will begin production in Budapest towards September-October 2023. Among those already cast in important roles are Riccardo Scamarcio as Modigliani, Pierre Niney as French artist Maurice Utrillo, and Al Pacino as art collector Gangnat.
‘Modi’ will showcased at the Cannes Film Festival 2023.
Johnny Depp is gung-ho about directing the "universally human story". Moreover, Al Pacino is equally excited. Barry Navidi revealed that ‘Modi’ the film is "very close to Al's heart", adding that the film will be "a slice of Modi's life and not a bio".
