Farah Khan with Baba Ramdev
Celebrity choreographer and filmmaker Farah Khan recently visited Baba Ramdev’s Haridwar ashram for an episode of her popular cooking vlog — and what followed was a delightful mix of humor, candid conversations, and spiritual insights.

Baba Ramdev personally gave Farah a guided tour of the massive ashram, which includes meditation halls, serene cottages, and lush green areas designed for reflection and wellness. While walking through, he joked that while the ashram had “palatial accommodations” for visitors, he himself had chosen to stay in a modest hut.

Farah, known for her wit, teased him saying, “So you and Salman Khan are alike — he also lives in a 1BHK and has built palaces for everyone else.” The remark made Baba Ramdev laugh, and he agreed, saying, “Yes, that’s true.”

He then proudly showed her both his old and new huts, noting that one of them was a little more “stylish.” Farah admired the simple stone construction and jokingly asked him to gift her one. Ramdev revealed that the hut was built using special stones brought from Jodhpur.

The tour also featured a look at Ramdev’s kamandal — a ritual pot — which he said is worth nearly ₹1 lakh. Despite his massive influence and wealth, the yoga guru revealed that he has been sleeping on a basic mat on the floor for the past three decades.

“Since childhood, I have followed the discipline of asking for food as alms. I joined a Gurukul when I was 15-16 years old. I have been practicing yoga for nearly 50 years, meditating 8, 10, sometimes even 12 hours a day,” Ramdev shared.

Atop his hut, there is a small puja room where he begins worshipping Lord Shiva every day at 3 a.m.

Today, Baba Ramdev is among India’s most influential spiritual leaders. He co-founded the Divya Yog Mandir Trust in 1995 and later established Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar in 2006 — a vast campus that includes a hospital, pharmacy, university, and the Yog Gram ashram. His net worth is estimated to be over ₹1,600 crore, yet he continues to live in his humble kutiya.
