Jodhpur doctor booked for tying dog to car, dragging it along road; watch video

In a chilling video that has gone viral on social media, a dog can be seen chained to a car and being dragged around in Jodhpur. According to the user, who has shared this disturbing video on Twitter, it was captured in Rajasthan's Jodhpur on Sunday and the car was being driven by a doctor. The video shows that as the car gains speed, the dog struggles to keep up.

It was a motorcycle rider behind the doctor's vehicle who captured this video and at the end of it, we could see that he pulled up his vehicle right in front of the car, which forced the driver to stop his vehicle.

Since being uploaded, the video has gone viral on social media and has angered several social media users, who are demanding strict punishment for the perpetrator.

Now the police have registered the case against the driver, who is identified as a renowned plastic surgeon of a Rajasthan government hospital, PTI reported quoting police as saying.

The dog suffered a fracture in one leg and its other leg has injury marks. It also sustained bruises on the neck, said a caretaker at Dog Home Foundation.

Station House Officer of Shasri Nagar Jogendra Singh told PTI that a case has been registered against doctor Rajneesh Galwa under section 428 (mischief by killing or maiming an animal) of the Indian Penal Code and section 11 (treating animals cruelly) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals act.



Calls to Galwa did not elicit any response. Principal and Controller of S N Medical College Dilip Kachawaha said that a show cause notice had been issued to the accused seeking his reply in 24 hours.

The caretaker of the shelter home alleged that police initially were reluctant to cooperate in the matter, PTI reported.

“Police unnecessarily took the ambulance to the police station and kept it there for over an hour despite our request to release it so that the injured dog is treated. The police acted under the influence of the doctor and an FIR was lodged only after two hours,” he alleged.
