Jilted woman in Uttar Pradesh turns Sholay's Viru, climbs mobile tower for love
Residents of Semra Raja village in Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj were taken aback on Thursday when a 20-year-old local woman climbed a 50-meter-tall mobile tower for the love of her life, a 24-year-old truck driver from the same village.

Residents of Semra Raja village in Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj were taken aback on Thursday when a 20-year-old local woman climbed a 50-meter-tall mobile tower for the love of her life, a 24-year-old truck driver from the same village. According to local sources, the two had been in a relationship for a couple of years.
As she ascended the tower, she accused her boyfriend and his family of opposing their marriage and claimed that the youth had gone missing.
The youth's family countered, stating that he had left the village a couple of days ago to deliver a consignment in Nepal.
Onlookers had a field day, capturing the incident on mobile cameras, and local WhatsApp groups were inundated with pictures and videos. The proximity of the tower to a toll plaza briefly disrupted traffic on the highway.
The police faced challenges in persuading the irate woman to descend. When all attempts at cajoling failed, officers climbed the tower and safely brought her down.
"The woman climbed the mobile tower near Semra Raja toll plaza area in Maharajganj district on Thursday. She was having a love affair with a local youth and wanted to convince her family to marry her to the man. Police got her down, and the necessary legal action will be taken," said Circle Officer Ajay Singh Chauhan.
Although the woman descended from the tower, her anger persisted. She was only pacified after filing an FIR against the man for "voluntarily causing hurt," added the CO.
