The National Testing Agency will conduct the Joint Entrance Examination Mains 2026 Session 1 from January 21, with exams scheduled on January 21, 22, 23 and 24, 2026. The examination will be held in a computer-based format across designated centres. Candidates are required to carry their downloaded admit card, two passport-size photographs and a valid photo identity proof to the examination centre.

Ahead of the examination, the agency has issued guidelines for candidates. Students have been advised to visit their examination centres in advance to familiarise themselves with the location and available transport options to ensure timely arrival. On the day of the exam, candidates must report well before the scheduled time, as multiple pre-examination formalities are to be completed.

Candidates who did not register through Aadhaar, or opted for non-Aadhaar authentication, are required to report at least one hour before the gate closing time to complete biometric verification at the centre.

Items allowed and examination protocols

Candidates must bring their own geometry box set, pencils, erasers and colour pencils or crayons. The use of watercolours on the drawing sheet will not be permitted. Apart from biometric attendance and frisking at the time of entry, candidates will be required to undergo frisking and biometric verification again if they take a bio-break during the examination.

Admit card submission after the exam

Candidates must submit the duly filled-in admit card in the designated drop box while exiting the examination hall or room. Failure to submit the admit card may lead to non-evaluation of the answer sheets.
