Based on the result, the qualified candidates will be eligible for applying to several NITs and IITs throughout the country. However, only those who come in the top 2.5 lakh in the All-India rankings will be considered eligible for appearing in JEE advanced 2022. The main exams were held from June 23 to June 29 and about ten lakhs students appeared for the same.
How the score for JEE Main Exams is calculated?
The candidates will be shortlisted based on their rank and percentile score. According to the NTA, first, the raw score is calculated and then converted into percentile using the JEE Mains normalization criteria. Generally, the percentile is calculated up to 7 decimal points to avoid ties or draws between the candidates.
To calculate the percentile, 100 is multiplied by the no. of candidates who have obtained a score equal to or less than the student and divided by the total number of candidates who appeared in the session.
In 2020 JEE Mains, the cut-off was 90 percentile for the general category, which went down to 87 in 2021. According to experts, the cut-off for 2022 JEE Mains could be between 89 and 91 percentile.
