Javed Akhtar dismisses Kangana Ranaut's praise over remarks on Pakistan, terms her unimportant

Renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar dismissed Kangana Ranaut's appreciation for his comments on Pakistan, calling the celebrated actress unimportant. Akhtar, who was in Lahore for a literary festival to celebrate the renowned Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz, slammed Pakistan for the 26/11 Mumbai attacks during his address at the event.

Kangana had praised Akhtar for his sharp words against Pakistan. However, during his recent interaction with NDTV, Akhtar refused to discuss Ranaut's praise, stating that he did not consider her important. He said Javed Akhtar said that he did not consider Kangana important, and thus, how could she make an important remark. He further added to forget about her and suggested moving forward.

The video of Javed Akhtar's remarks, which was reportedly in response to a question, has gone viral on social media. He expressed his anger against Pakistan for the 26/11 attacks and also criticised the country for not holding any event for Lata Mangeshkar, despite India organising events for Pakistani artists Mehdi Hasan and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.


Kangana Ranaut took to Twitter to praise Akhtar, where she wrote, "Whenever I listen to Javed Saab's poetry, I feel like Goddess Saraswati has blessed him." She further said that there must be some truth within a person for them to be blessed with divinity, She added that he had spilled their truth in their own land.

However, it is not the first time that Akhtar and Ranaut are involved in a controversy. In 2020, Akhtar had filed a complaint against Ranaut, alleging that she had defamed him on a television show. The case is currently pending in court
