Jasprit Bumrah's career could end...: Fast bowling great Shane Bond has a big warning for Boom
Jasprit Bumrah's back injury has caused concerns about his long-term future. Shane Bond advises careful workload management to prevent another injury which could be career-threatening. Bond suggests not playing Bumrah in more than two consecutive ...

The fast bowler has not played since the fifth and final Test against Australia in Sydney, where he left the field for scans on the second day. Initially diagnosed as back spasms, the issue was later confirmed as a stress-related injury, ruling him out of the Champions Trophy.
Workload management crucial
Bond, who underwent back surgery at the age of 29—the same age at which Bumrah had his operation—emphasized the need for careful workload management. Despite struggling with injuries, Bond managed to play until 34 before retiring from all formats."Look, I think Booms will be fine, but it's just that [workload] management [matters]," Bond told ESPNCricinfo. "Looking at the tours and the schedule going forward, where are the opportunities to give him a break, but really where are the danger periods? And often it is that the [transition from] IPL to the Test championship will be a risk."
Could be a 'career-ender'
Bond advised the Indian team management to be cautious during the upcoming five-Test series against England. He suggested that Bumrah should not play "more than two [Tests] in a row" to avoid further stress on his back."He's too valuable for the next World Cup and stuff. So you'd be looking at five Tests in England, I wouldn't want to be playing him in any more than two in a row. Coming out of the back end of the IPL into a Test match is going to be a huge risk. And so how do they manage that is going to be key," Bond said.
Bond also noted that if Bumrah sustains another injury in the same spot, it "could be a career-ender, potentially, because I'm not sure you can have surgery on that spot again."
India’s England tour poses a challenge
India's five-Test series against England, scheduled between June 28 and August 3, is expected to be a physically demanding assignment. During the recent five-Test series against Australia, Bumrah bowled 151.2 overs, including a 52-over spell in Melbourne. Bond believes the Indian team must carefully manage his workload to ensure his long-term fitness.
The Indian team management faces a critical decision on balancing Bumrah’s workload while ensuring he remains available for key tournaments in the future.
