Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel back: See India team for T20 World Cup 2022

Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and death overs specialist Harshal Patel are back from injuries as the selectors banked on experience while picking the team on Monday for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.

Bumrah, who was suffering from back injury and Harshal, who had a side strain, completed an intense rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy before they were ruled fit.


Pacer Avesh Khan and leggie Ravi Bishnoi - part of the squad for Asia Cup 2022 - did not get a place, but leftarm quick Arshdeep Singh an veteran offie Ravichandran Ashwin were retained.

Ravindra Jadeja, who recently incurred a freak knee injury is not part of the squad, and his place was taken by Axar Patel who too bowls left-arm orthodox.

The selectors stuck to wicketkeepers Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik, and young Ishan kishan misssed out

Veteran pacer Mohammed Shami is back in the T20 scheme of things as was picked for the upcoming T20 series versus Australia and South Africa, and was also among the four stand-bys nmed for the World Cup squad.

Bhuvneshwar will miss the South Africa series while Hardik and Arshdeep will skip the Australia series beginning September 20. The World Cup matches begin on October 16.

The spin-bowlin options in the squad are: R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel, with Deepak Hooda able to chip in with a few overs.
