Jasleen Royal lives in 2,300-sq-ft Juhu home with sea-facing terrace, prominent piano, warm earthy interiors, personal photographs, arched design elements and a Buddha fountain surrounded by greenery

For singer-songwriter Jasleen Royal, home is more than a place to return to between tours. Her 2,300-square-foot sea-facing apartment in Mumbai’s Juhu is designed as a personal retreat that reflects her music, personality and love for intimate spaces.

Created in collaboration with designer Janhavi Singh, the apartment moves away from the polished, uniform aesthetic often associated with celebrity homes. Instead, it uses warm textures, earthy colours, personal photographs and carefully chosen furniture to create a lived-in atmosphere.

A house tour shared by Architectural Digest India on May 25 offers a glimpse into the space, where deep sage green walls, herringbone-patterned wooden flooring and vintage-inspired details set the tone.

Living room blends classic details with a contemporary feel

The living room features a large cream-coloured sofa paired with an oversized ottoman, creating a relaxed setting for unwinding at home.

A black digital piano sits against floor-to-ceiling sheer curtains that allow natural light into the room while softening Mumbai’s bright sunlight. The recurring use of arches adds another distinctive element to the interiors.

Dark green cabinetry includes an arched vanity-style nook, while vintage-inspired lamps and personal awards add character to the space.

Terrace overlooking the Arabian Sea

While the interiors offer a cosy retreat, the terrace is perhaps the most striking part of the apartment.

Jasleen has described the terrace as the “soul of the house”. The expansive outdoor area overlooks the Arabian Sea and features a glass railing that keeps the view of the horizon and palm trees unobstructed.

A Buddha fountain surrounded by potted plants adds a quieter, more natural element to the space, with the sound of flowing water blending with the waves.

The terrace is also designed for entertaining. A long concrete-finish dining table surrounded by wicker chairs provides a space for gatherings.

“I love hosting family and friends, so there’s always music playing, people sitting around talking, eating, or just quietly staring at the sky,” Jasleen told Architectural Digest India.

Bedrooms bring in earthy colours and sea views

The colour palette changes as the apartment moves into the bedrooms, shifting from deep greens to terracotta, beige and other earthy tones.

The master bedroom features a tall rust-coloured velvet headboard, while a bay-window seating area provides a private spot overlooking the sea.

A large arched mirror adds to the room’s sense of space and reflects the natural light coming through the windows.

A moody dining area and dramatic vanity

The dining area has a more intimate look, with a deep burgundy leather booth positioned beneath a dark wood-panelled ceiling.

Fresh lilies and a gallery wall featuring personal photographs add softer elements to the otherwise moody setting.

The bathroom continues the home’s mix of contemporary and vintage-inspired design. Its vanity area stands out with deep crimson walls, twin gold-framed mirrors, dark wood cabinetry and brass fixtures.

A home designed around music and memories

Across the apartment, the design combines functional spaces with details that feel personal to Jasleen. From the piano and photographs to the sea-facing terrace and carefully chosen colour palette, the home reflects an approach that prioritises comfort and individuality over a conventional celebrity-home aesthetic.

In the middle of Mumbai’s fast-paced Juhu neighbourhood, the apartment serves as a private retreat for the singer — one that brings together music, memories, nature and the Arabian Sea.
