The Meteorological (MeT) Department has forecast more rainfall in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh over the next couple of days.

In the past few days, Kashmir has already received good rainfall, with fresh snowfall reported in the upper mountain areas. This has led to a noticeable drop in both daytime and night-time temperatures.

On Sunday, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 19.5°C, which is 7.5 degrees below the normal level for this time of year. In Gulmarg, the famous ski resort, the temperature was just 7.6°C, 9.9 degrees below normal, after fresh snowfall in nearby mountains. The popular tourist spot Pahalgam also recorded a low 16.1°C, which is 6.9 degrees below the usual temperature. Even Jammu, known for its hot weather, recorded a cooler 35.5°C, about 3.5 degrees below normal.

According to the latest weather bulletin, the forecast for Tuesday, 3 June, is "fairly widespread showers" (FWS).

On Tuesday, 4 June, another spell of light to moderate rain or thundershowers is expected at several places.
