The 44th Jaisalmer Desert Festival 2023 will take place between February 3 and February 5 amid rich cultural festivities. Celebrated in the Hindu ‘Magh’ month, the festival is set for a grand start, three days before the full moon, in the rustic beauty of the Thar desert.


Reportedly, the three-day-long extravaganza will showcase the richness of Rajasthan’s traditions and raw culture. The desert festival allows the visitors to soak themselves in the unparalleled beauty of Rajasthan. During the event, guests will get an opportunity to enjoy folk dances, music, and other cultural activities that will bring them close to Indian traditions. The festival will witness multiple performances by renowned music artists like Ankit Tiwari, Shanmukha Priya, Salman Ali, Raghu Dixit, and Salim Sulaiman.


Jaisalmer Desert Festival 2023: Date

The 2023 edition of the Jaisalmer Desert Festival is scheduled to take place between February 3 and 5. This three-day-long affair explores the rich cultural heritage hidden behind the traditional beauty of Rajasthan. The sand dunes of Thar Desert bring new energy to the festivities by adding a mesmerising charm to the desert silence.

February 3

The fun festival will begin with the Aarti chants at Shri Laxminath Ji Temple, located at the Jaisalmer Fort. Next will be the Shobha Yatra, where visitors will walk down the distance from the fort to the Shahid Poonam Singh stadium. The festivities will start with the ‘Golden Skies’ event, where golden balloons will be released in the sky.

Enchanting folk dancers' performances will be the highlight of the festival's opening day. Visitors will also be able to participate in various competitions such as the moustache competition, Mr. Desert competition, Miss Moomal competition, turban tying competition, etc. The evening will witness a stellar performance by popular singer Salim Sulaiman. Fireworks will also be organised in the end.

February 4

The second day of the Jaisalmer Desert Festival 2023 will begin with soothing instrumental music and a yoga session. Post this, the visitors will be allowed to participate in multiple cultural festivities. The list includes activities like camel decoration competition, Shan-E-Marudhara competition, Panihari Matka race, and Tug of War.

In the later part of the day, guests will enjoy camel safaris and activities in the Village Khuhdi. The day will include rich cultural programs, fireworks, and celebrity performances.


February 5

The final day will allow visitors to relish the sight of beautiful peacocks that form an essential part of Rajasthan’s culture. There will be musical performances in the Khabha Fort as well. Guests can also participate in art competitions like rangoli making, Mandana, and wall painting events. These activities will be organised in Kuldhara Deserted Village. The event will end with horse races, camel races, horse dances, and musical concerts.
