Suspension Order Issued
The suspension order was issued on Friday and formally served to Patil on Sunday, June 7.Allegations of Investment Fraud
According to the complaint, Patil, along with his associates, allegedly convinced Habiba Jaaferi to invest in a redevelopment project in Mumbai’s Bandra area, promising high returns and significant profits.The accused are also suspected of creating forged and fake documents to carry out the alleged fraud.
FIR Filed, Accused Absconding
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at Khar Police Station. Since then, Patil has reportedly gone absconding, and authorities have been unable to trace his location.Case Transferred to Crime Branch
Khar Police have booked Patil along with five other individuals in connection with the case.Given the seriousness of the allegations and the large sum involved, the investigation has now been handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch.
Raids Underway
Crime Branch teams are currently conducting raids at multiple locations to locate the suspended official and the other accused persons involved in the case.[With TOI inputs]
