ISRO is hiring engineering graduates for 176 posts; check pay, registration, exam date and selection process

Who can apply for ISRO Scientist, Engineer posts?

Candidates need a BE, BTech or equivalent engineering qualification in the relevant discipline from a recognised institution.

For Electronics posts, candidates need the required qualification in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Mechanical and Computer Science applicants must hold the corresponding engineering degree.

Applicants must have secured at least 65% marks in aggregate or a CGPA of 6.84 on a 10-point scale.

The maximum age is 28 years as on September 16, 2026. Eligible candidates in categories covered by the recruitment rules can receive age relaxation.

ISRO recruitment 2026 registration and fee

Candidates must complete the application through the online ISRO recruitment portal. Applications submitted through any other mode will not be accepted.

The application fee is Rs 250. Candidates must initially pay a Rs 750 processing fee, subject to the refund conditions mentioned in the recruitment notification.

The last date to submit the application is September 16, 2026, by 11:55 pm.

ISRO exam date and pattern

ISRO will conduct the written examination as a computer-based test in 37 cities across India. The recruitment notice provides the examination pattern, while candidates should check the official notification for the announced examination schedule.

The written test will carry 100 marks and have two parts.

Part A will contain 80 discipline-specific multiple-choice questions. Candidates will get 90 minutes to attempt this section. It will carry negative marking, with one-third of a mark deducted for each incorrect answer.

Part B will test aptitude and ability. It will have a maximum of 15 questions carrying 20 marks, with 30 minutes allotted for the section. There will be no negative marking in Part B.

How ISRO will select candidates

Candidates will first appear for the written test. ISRO will shortlist candidates for the personal interview based on their written-test performance in a 1:5 ratio.

The interview will carry 100 marks, giving it equal weightage with the written examination. The final selection will therefore give 50% weightage to the written test and 50% to the interview.

The interview will assess more than technical knowledge. Candidates will also face questions or assessment related to communication skills, comprehension, general awareness and academic achievements.

For unreserved candidates, the prescribed requirement includes at least 50% marks in the interview and 60% aggregate marks.
