Kim Jong Un, daughter seen firing pistol
North Korea has released a new photo of leader Kim Jong Un’s teenage daughter Kim Ju Ae firing a pistol, once again raising speculation that she could be the country’s future leader. The image was released by North Korea’s state media and shows Ju Ae shooting a pistol during a visit to a major weapons factory along with her father. The factory produces pistols and other light weapons used by the military and security forces.
This comes just weeks after another photo showed the teenager firing a rifle at a shooting range. The repeated images of her handling weapons have sparked fresh discussions among experts about whether the North Korean leadership is preparing her as a possible successor.
In the latest photo, Ju Ae is seen firing the pistol with one eye closed while flames appear from the gun’s muzzle. She and her father were also photographed wearing matching leather jackets as they inspected the facility and spoke with officials.
During the visit, Kim Jong Un also tested the new pistol at the factory’s shooting range and praised the weapon’s performance and quality.
Ju Ae has increasingly appeared at major military events and political gatherings in recent years. Analysts say these public appearances could be part of an effort to present her as a future leader of North Korea. Ju Ae was publicly introduced to the world in 2022 when she accompanied her father to an intercontinental ballistic missile launch. Before then, the only confirmation of her existence had come from former NBA star Dennis Rodman, who visited the North in 2013.
