IRCTC Swarail app: Ticket booking, PNR status, file complaints, check services and features of Indian Railways new app

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has officially made its new SwaRail mobile app available for public download on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the app had been introduced quietly a few months ago. It is currently in beta testing.

Described by the Ministry of Railways as a platform that “integrates various services offered by Indian Railways, which are currently available on separate mobile apps, into a single user interface, ensuring seamless navigation,” the SwaRail app is being positioned as a modern alternative to the existing IRCTC Rail Connect app.

What the SwaRail app offers

The SwaRail app brings together a range of services previously available across different platforms. Users can now perform the following tasks within one app:

• Book reserved train tickets
• Book unreserved and platform tickets
• Track parcel and freight enquiries
• Check train and PNR status
• Order food while travelling
• Lodge and manage complaints via Rail Madad

Key features of the SwaRail app

The app includes several features designed to simplify the user experience:

Single sign-on: One login credential is enough to access all services.

All-in-one interface: Users no longer need to install multiple apps for different railway services.

Integrated services: Information from various sources has been combined to present it in one place.

Simple onboarding: Existing users of Rail Connect or UTS apps can use their credentials for SwaRail.

Multiple login options: Various methods of logging in have been provided to improve accessibility.

The SwaRail app remains in beta, and IRCTC is expected to expand its features and refine the platform based on user feedback.
