Mukesh Kumar, a West Bengal pacer has signed up for Delhi Capitals(DC) for IPL 2023 for Rs 5.50 crores becoming the highest-paid player of DC. He has played for the Bengal cricket team and hails from Gopalganj of Bihar.

He made it to the Bengal cricket team through the Vision 2020 trials conducted in 2014 under the supervision of Ranade Bose, a former Indian pacer.
After being selected Kumar said that he aims to perform well, learn more and gain success and fulfil his father’s dreams of competing in IPL.
Mukesh is recognised for his first-class debut on October 30 in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy, where he claimed 20 wickets in 5 matches for Bengal. Further, he also made his List A debut on December 13, 2015, in the 2015–16 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Earlier, he used to play prize-money tournaments in Kolkata, Patna, and Delhi at times. Kumar played for Bihar in the Under-19 team earlier too.
Kumar’s journey to the IPL has been long and challenging. He relocated to Kolkata in 2012, where his father worked as a taxi driver. He wanted his son to join the army, but Mukesh had different plans for his future.
