Ahead of the 16th edition, here's a look at the top ten wicket-takers in IPL history. Dwayne Bravo leads the way with 183 wickets to date.

The 16th season of the Indian Premier League will begin on March 31, with 10 teams clashing in 74 matches. While the T20 format has historically favoured batters, multiple bowlers have done well in the tournament since its inception in 2008. Only three international players are among the top ten wicket-takers. Here is a list of the top ten bowlers in IPL history in terms of claiming the highest number of wickets.


Dwayne Bravo of the West Indies has the most IPL wickets. The former Chennai Super Kings all-rounder has claimed 183 wickets in 161 matches at a strike rate of 17.05.



Lasith Malinga
, a former Mumbai Indians bowler, is ranked second. The Sri Lankan pace sensation took 170 wickets in 122 games, with a best bowling figure of 5 for 13.


Amit Mishra of the Lucknow SuperGiants and Yuzvendra Chahal of the Rajasthan Royals are the joint leading Indian wicket-takers in the tournament. Both Amit Mishra and Yuzvendra Chahal have 166 Wikckets in 154 and 131 matches, respectively.

Rajasthan Royals’ Ravichandran Ashwin has played 184 IPL and took 157 wickets at an average of 28.89 and conceded nearly 6.98 runs per over with a best individual figure of 4/34.


Mumbai Indian's Piyush Chawla has 157 wickets in 165 matches.


In his 146 IPL games to date, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has taken 154 wickets at an average of 25.79, allowed almost 7.30 runs per over, and had a best individual figure of 5/19.

Sunil Narine
has played n 148 IPL games, taken 152 wickets at an average of 25.13, allowed almost 6.63 runs per over, and recorded a personal best of 5/19.


In his IPL career, Harbhajan Singh played 163 matches and took 150 wickets.

In his 120 IPL games to date, Jasprit Bumrah has taken 145 wickets at an average of 23.30 and conceded nearly 7.39 runs per over with outstanding individual figures of 5/10.
