IPL 2023 Auction starts today: Here are all the things you need to know
There will be new bids on a total of 405 players to fill the last 87 spots in the IPL's 10 franchises

The IPL auction is an exciting event that may change players' lives, while spectators experience an emotional roller-coaster as clubs finalize their lineups. This year's auction had 991 participants register, with 405 making the final list, comprising 273 Indians and 132 from other countries. Only 87 seats are open to the teams, with a total purse of Rs. 183.15 crores available.
At the auction, all ten clubs - Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings XI, and Sunrisers Hyderabad-will compete to acquire their preferred players.
In a mini-auction, teams can keep as many players as they like. In contrast, in a mega auction, the majority of players join the auction pool, with clubs permitted three to five retentions.
