Four time IPL winner, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) while retaining skipper MS Dhoni has chosen to stick with top stars like all-rounder Ravindra Jadeya.

CSK on Friday acquired England all-rounder and Test captain Ben Stokes for the upcoming 2023 Indian Premier League for Rs 1.625 crore.

He entered the auction with a 20 million rupee base price leading to hard bidding between CSK, RCB and Sunrisers Hyderabad.


This made Stokes the most expensive player CSK has purchased. Stokes in past has led England from the front at the 2019 World Cup, the 2019 Headingley Ashes Test and his T20 World Cup in 2022.

Besides Jadeja, CSK have signed other domestic cricket sensations such as Ambati Rayudu and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Top foreign stars retained by the Chennai team include Moen Ali, Mitchell Santner and South Africa's Dwayne Pretorius. All-rounder Deepak Chahar, who did not play a single game in IPL 2022 was also held by Dhoni's side.

CSK's 2022 IPL season was tough, finishing ninth in the points table.

This could be the last season of the franchise for MS Dhoni. IChennai also acquired Ajinkya Rahane and New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamison. U19 stars Sheikh Rashid and Nishant Sindhu are also in attendance. The team also signed players from hometown such as Ajay Mandal and Bhagath Varma.

Devon Conway 31 years old, destructive batsman along with Subhranshu Senapati 25, were also signed. . The srilankan players Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana will also be a part of the team.

Along with them Mitchell Santner, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Dwaine Pretorius, Bhagath Verma, Ajay Mandal, Kylie Jamieson, Nishanth Sindhu, Shaik Rasheed, Ajinkya Rahane will represent the franchise.
