This first-generation iPhone was factory-sealed, which means it was totally wrapped in the production box, and some lucky guy felt it was worth more than Rs. 50 lakh. The first-generation iPhone model was released in 2007, and it sold for $63,356 (about Rs 53 lakh) over the weekend.

While this is not the first time a first-generation iPhone has been sold for a large sum, it is the highest bidding price for a first-generation iPhone to date. Someone paid Rs 32 lakh for the first-generation iPhone in October 2022. Yet, the most current price at which the iPhone's first generation was sold is the highest to date.

The iPhone auction was held on the website LCG auctions, and the sealed first-generation iPhone was sold for USD 63,356.40. This sum is about approx Rs 53 lakh when translated to INR.

Karen Green, the phone’s original owner, is mentioned in the description. “We are thrilled to offer this legendary factory-sealed, first-generation iPhone in excellent condition. Karen Green, the phone’s original owner, donated our offering” it says.

According to reports, Karen Green is a cosmetic tattoo artist in New Jersey, USA. The phone had been given to her as a present. She could not open the phone since she was locked into a Verizon contract that did not cover iPhones. According to the article, Green pondered selling the iPhone but decided against it and called LCG Auctions in October. She made this decision after learning that a first-generation iPhone could be purchased for around USD 40,000. According to the story, Green said that she planned to use the money for her tattoo shop.

Karen’s iPhone auction began at USD 2,500. Even though it was believed that the phone would cost at least USD 50,000, it sold for considerably more.
