Apple is likely to introduce its iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in the coming months, with early leaks pointing to significant upgrades in design, performance and camera capabilities. The next-generation Pro models could bring notable changes that may influence buying decisions for users considering current iPhone models.

One of the key expected upgrades is a redesigned front display. Reports suggest Apple may move Face ID sensors under the screen, potentially removing the pill-shaped Dynamic Island seen in recent models.

The selfie camera could be placed in a small punch-hole cutout near the top-left corner, offering a cleaner viewing experience. While the overall body design may remain similar to the previous generation, changes to the front could be noticeable.


On the rear, the triple-camera setup is expected to continue, with possible refinements to the glass and frame finish. New Pro colour options, including deep purple, burgundy and coffee brown, are also being tested.

iPhone 18 price in India

There is no clear indication that Apple will increase prices for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. The company had already raised prices for the previous generation, which may lead to stable pricing this time.

For reference, the iPhone 17 Pro starts at Rs 1,34,900 in India, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max is priced from Rs 1,49,900. Final pricing for the upcoming models may still depend on factors such as component costs, manufacturing conditions and competition.

iPhone 18 Camera upgrades

Apple is expected to prioritise camera improvements in the upcoming lineup. Leaks indicate the possible introduction of a mechanical iris system, allowing variable aperture control to manage light intake more effectively.

This feature could enhance low-light photography, improve portrait quality and produce more natural background blur while reducing reliance on software processing.

Reports also suggest the use of a new three-layer stacked image sensor, possibly supplied by Samsung, which may improve capture speed, reduce noise and enhance dynamic range. Larger apertures for the main and telephoto cameras are also anticipated.

A20 Pro chip and performance gains

The iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to be powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip, which is said to be built on an advanced 2nm process.

Apple may adopt a new packaging approach where RAM is integrated alongside the CPU, GPU and Neural Engine. This could improve efficiency, speed and thermal management.

Leaks suggest performance gains of around 15 per cent and up to 30 per cent better power efficiency compared to the previous generation, which may also benefit on-device Apple Intelligence features.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is tipped to feature a 5,100mAh battery, which would be among the largest in an iPhone. This could also increase the device weight beyond 240 grams, potentially making it the heaviest iPhone so far.

Display sizes and feature

Apple is unlikely to change display sizes, with the iPhone 18 Pro expected to retain a 6.3-inch screen and the Pro Max a 6.9-inch display.

There remains uncertainty over whether the Dynamic Island will be removed entirely or reduced in size, with conflicting reports suggesting either a punch-hole-only design or a smaller version of the existing feature.
