Chandigarh iPhone langar: Raja D King to distribute iPhone 17 models from September 22; check details

Social media personality Rakesh Trehan, popularly known as Raja D King, has announced that he will begin distributing iPhones in Chandigarh from September 22, following his earlier ‘petrol langar’ event that drew a large crowd.

Trehan said the iPhone distribution will take place at the same location in Chandigarh and will be conducted live in front of the public and media.

iPhone distribution in Chandigarh on September 22

Trehan said people from Chandigarh and Mohali will initially be considered for the iPhone distribution, PTI reported.

“iPhones will be distributed live in front of everyone to selected people from Chandigarh and Mohali. The names of the lucky recipients will be drawn in front of everyone,” Trehan said.

He said the first group would include 1,000 people, who would all be considered for the distribution.

“...On September 22, the distribution will begin live here at this very place, in front of everyone. All media are invited. Everyone we invite will be welcome. Those who have come here previously and have been supportive will also be invited,” Trehan said.

Why iPhone 17 models?

Trehan said he had initially planned to distribute iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 models, along with newer models in the future. However, he said the plan was changed over concerns that recipients could question why they had received a particular model.

“We had planned to distribute iPhone 16 and 17 models and go forward with newer models, but we dropped the idea as people who received iPhone 16 might complain to Mata Ji, questioning why he or she was not her favourite,” he said.

He said the lucky winners would instead receive iPhone 17 models, depending on availability.

1,000 people to be considered initially

Trehan said the initial group would consist of 1,000 people. Ten iPhones are expected to be distributed on September 22 as part of the first exercise.

He said the initiative would then be expanded to 10 more cities in Punjab, PTI reported.

Trehan had earlier said that he planned to distribute 100 iPhones in Chandigarh and another 200 in Mohali.

People in the additional cities would reportedly be given around 12-13 days to meet the requirements before the next distribution date is announced on October 5.

‘Jai Mata Di’ condition for iPhone recipients

Trehan has also set a condition for people seeking an iPhone. Members of the group will have to write “Jai Mata Di” once every day until they receive the phone.

He said anyone who forgets to write it on a particular day can make up for it by writing the phrase twice the following day.

According to Trehan, the activity will be monitored and those who fail to write the phrase will not be eligible to receive an iPhone.

Earlier petrol langar in Chandigarh

The announcement comes after Trehan’s earlier ‘petrol langar’ in Chandigarh was postponed because of heavy rain.

The event had attracted a large crowd, with people expecting free fuel coupons. Trehan later announced that he would distribute iPhones instead.

Trehan also referred to an earlier event in Amritsar, where he claimed that more than 3,000 people were part of the group and 484 gold coins were distributed. Of these, he said 280 were contributed by one individual, PTI reported.

Raja D King’s gift-giving plans

Trehan has previously said that giving gifts is his hobby and that he gives gifts to people he meets.

He has also said that he plans to donate 90 per cent of his wealth.
