iPhone 13 tops as the best-selling smartphone of 2022, say reports

The iPhone 13 launched in 2021 became the best-selling smartphone across the globe in 2022 according to the Global Monthly Handset Model Sales Tracker report of Counterpoint Research. Counterpoint Research is US’s Cupertino-based tech company. The iPhone 13 constituted 28% of the iPhone sales last year.

iPhone 13 was the top-selling smartphone in several countries including France, Germany, US, UK and China. The sales of the iPhone 13 scaled up due to the price cuts in September last year, eventually making it the best-selling phone in 2022. The price of the smartphone decreased after the launch of the iPhone 14 series in September 2021.

A total of 8 Apple smartphones were among the top 10 best-selling phones in 2022. The market research revealed that iPhone 13 Pro Max was in the second position and iPhone 14 Pro Max was third. While iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 12, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro secured fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth positions respectively. Besides these Apple smartphones, the pocket-friendly iPhone SE was ranked ninth.


Apple became the only brand to take over eight positions in the list of top 10 best-selling smartphones in 2022. Samsung occupied two positions in the top 10 list of best-selling smartphones, with Samsung Galaxy A13 becoming the fourth best-selling smartphone. Another Samsung Galaxy series phone, Samsung A03 occupied the tenth position.
