International Jazz Day 2023: Check list of Mumbai shows, venue, timings

International Jazz Day is commemorated worldwide on April 30 every year. The day was established in 2011 to utilize music as a tool to foster intercultural dialogue and bring the world's attention to jazz. Since then, numerous major cities have celebrated the day, often extending the festivities to an entire week, featuring concerts where musicians collaborate.

Mumbai is one of the cities that has witnessed several of these shows, and this year, the weekend promises to be full of jazz music.

Jazz by Louiz Banks

Completing 11 years, NCPA has organized a concert curated by renowned jazz expert, Louiz Banks. The show will showcase a wide range of jazz artists from different parts of the city, featuring musical instrument displays and outstanding vocal talents. The event is being held in collaboration with UNESCO and The Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz.

The Bandra Jazz Festival

Revolver Club's Bandra Jazz Festival will host a two-day celebration of jazz music with various events. The festival will feature live performances by Zian B Ensemble on Day 1 and The Mayfly Quintet on Day 2, with the vinyl sessions and discussion being free with registration, and tickets required for the evening concerts.

World Jazz Festival

Banyan Tree's World Jazz Festival is returning this year to Pune, Bangalore, New Delhi, and Hyderabad, in collaboration with the Amersfoort Jazz Festival from The Netherlands. The festival will showcase musicians from around the world, playing various sub-genres within jazz over two days.

International Jazz Day by Adil Manuel

Adil Manuel will present a line-up at antiSocial for International Jazz Day, continuing the tradition from last year. The venue's stage is known for its regular live music performances. The Adil Manuel Collective, Rajeev Raja Combine, Flamenco India, Deepak Verma, Samantha Noella, and some surprise acts will be performing this year. The event is taking place a day early, and tickets are selling fast.
