According to the UN, solidarity has always been a distinguishing feature of the organisation. According to the United Nations, establishing the UN brought together the world's peoples and nations to promote peace, human rights, and social and economic progress. The organisation was created on the essential principle of unity and harmony among its members, as embodied in collective security, which relies on the members' solidarity to maintain world peace and security.
