Inspired by Meghalaya honeymoon horror, only 45 days married woman gets husband killed to keep 15-year affair with mama alive

In a shocking case that reminds many of the recent Meghalaya honeymoon murder, a newlywed woman in Bihar’s Aurangabad district has been accused of getting her husband killed just 45 days after their wedding, all to continue an illegal relationship with her maternal uncle.

The victim, 24-year-old Priyanshu Kumar Singh, was shot dead on the night of June 24 while returning from Nabinagar railway station. He had just come back from Varanasi and was speaking to his wife on the phone. Unbeknownst to him, she had already shared his location with the killers.

What seemed like a contract killing at first quickly turned into something far more disturbing. According to police, the murder was planned by Priyanshu’s wife, Gunja Singh, in partnership with her uncle Jeevan Singh (52).

A 15-year affair with her own uncle

According to Aurangabad SP Ambarish Rahul, Gunja had been in a 15-year-long secret relationship with Jeevan Singh. Despite this, she married Priyanshu in May this year under pressure from her family. But within weeks, Gunja allegedly decided she couldn’t live with the lie, or her husband, anymore.

Inspired by the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, where a woman reportedly killed her husband while on their honeymoon, Gunja and her uncle plotted to do the same.

A chilling murder plan

Police say the uncle, with the help of Jaishankar Chaubey and Mukesh Sharma from Jharkhand’s Garhwa district, planned the murder in detail. They arranged SIM cards, coordinated movements, and waited for the right moment.

On June 24, after Priyanshu updated Gunja about his travel, she passed the information to the killers. He was then ambushed and shot dead near the station.

Arrests made, uncle on the run

Gunja was arrested on Wednesday evening. During questioning, she confessed to the crime. The two men who helped with the killing are also in custody. However, Jeevan Singh, the main conspirator, is still missing, and a police manhunt is on.

Gunja’s mobile phone and call records are expected to be key evidence in proving her involvement.

The case has drawn eerie comparisons to the Meghalaya honeymoon murder, where trust in marriage was also shattered by violence and betrayal. Both cases involve a young bride hiding a secret affair and taking extreme steps to get rid of her husband.
