IndiGo cancels Delhi-Deoghar flight: Passengers of an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Deoghar staged a protest at Terminal 2 of Delhi airport after the airline cancelled their flight. A video shared by news agency ANI captured the frustrated travellers expressing their displeasure through chants of "Bandh Karo, Bandh Karo" and expressions of dismay with "Haye haye."

Delhi faced significant disruptions in train and flight services on Wednesday morning due to severe fog caused by a drop in temperature. The dense fog led to numerous passengers being stranded at airports and railway stations.

The impact of the weather was particularly evident at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, where multiple flights bound for Delhi or scheduled to depart from the capital faced delays or cancellations. According to the flight tracking website Flightradar24, a total of 51 flights experienced delays, and an additional 11 were cancelled at the IGI Airport. The prevailing weather conditions created challenges for air travel, affecting both arrivals and departures.

This incident comes just a few weeks after Indian aviation regulators, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), took action against IndiGo and other airlines. The BCAS imposed a hefty fine of Rs 1.2 crore on IndiGo for failing to adhere to security measures when a viral video showed passengers eating on the tarmac.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) had previously issued a show cause notice to IndiGo and Mumbai airport over passengers sitting on the tarmac and having meals during flight delays. The ministry accused both IndiGo and Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) of not being proactive in handling the situation and making necessary arrangements for stranded passengers.

The specific notice to IndiGo highlighted a violation of aviation security rules during a flight diversion incident on January 14. Passengers from flight 6E 2195 were allowed to disembark onto the apron and board another flight without proper security screening, violating established procedures.

In response to the notice, IndiGo stated that an internal inquiry had been initiated to address the issue, and they would respond to the notice following the protocol.
