A woman, Jyoti Adnani, has shared that she has returned to India after spending three years in Canada, citing health challenges and rising living costs as key reasons behind her decision.

In a LinkedIn post, she said she recently updated her location from Canada to India, describing it as a step that marked the end of a chapter she had kept open with the possibility of returning. Despite holding a valid work permit, she said she had been uncertain about fully closing that phase.

Health and financial strain influenced decision

Adnani noted that while she initially planned to settle in Canada, evolving circumstances over the past few years made it difficult to sustain that goal. She pointed to the high cost of living, a challenging job market, and immigration-related pressures as factors that affected many individuals.

She said her decision was ultimately driven by worsening health, adding that accessing healthcare in Canada proved difficult, expensive, and time-consuming. The situation, combined with financial pressures such as a student loan, became unsustainable, prompting her to resign from her job and return to India.

Reflects on experience abroad

Reflecting on her time in Canada, Adnani described the country as “genuinely beautiful” and said the experience shaped her perspective, work approach, and resilience. She highlighted the challenges of starting from scratch in a new country and the lessons learned through her journey as an immigrant.

Plans to restart work in India

Now back in India, she expressed interest in taking up new projects, collaborations, and consulting opportunities, along with resuming her writing. While calling it the end of a chapter, she noted that she plans to visit Canada in the future and remains grateful for the people she met during her time there.
