During the sentencing submissions at the South Australian supreme court, Prosecutor Carmen Matteo SC revealed the horrifying ordeal Jasmeen had to endure. She was forced to experience "absolute terror" after being abducted, bound with tape and cab...

The harrowing incident took place in 2021 when Jasmeen was stalked and abducted from her workplace in North Plympton. Singh, who was obsessed with Jasmeen and desired to marry her, drove her to Flinders Ranges, where he mercilessly murdered her and buried her in a shallow grave.
During the sentencing submissions at the South Australian supreme court, Prosecutor Carmen Matteo SC revealed the horrifying ordeal Jasmeen had to endure. She was forced to experience "absolute terror" after being abducted, bound with tape and cable ties, and buried alive while blindfolded and conscious.
While Singh made superficial cuts to Jasmeen's throat, they were not the cause of her death. The autopsy report revealed that she had passed away on 6th March, 2021.
According to court records, it was gleaned that the accused, Singh had meticulously planned the crime. In CCTV footage, he could be seen purchasing gloves, cable ties, and a shovel from a hardware store, hours before the murder took place.
His motive, according to the prosecution, stemmed from his inability to cope with the end of their relationship.
During the court proceedings, Martin Anders, representing Singh, argued that his client's reasoning was severely impaired and that he began experiencing hallucinations after Jasmeen's death. However, Justice Adam Kimber dismissed these claims, stating that Singh was punishing Jasmeen for rejecting him. As a result, Singh was sentenced to life imprisonment, with the non-parole period to be determined in the coming month.
In South Australia, murder carries a mandatory minimum non-parole period of 20 years. This sentencing reflects the gravity of the crime and serves as a somber reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and obsession.
