Jyotirmayee Nayak wins Indian Idol Season 16
Jyotirmayee sealed her victory after delivering a powerful performance of 'Saiyaan O Saiyaan' in the finale. She emerged victorious ahead of fellow finalists Anshika Chonkar, Manraj Veer Singh, Myscmme Bosu, Suhail Sufi and Tanishk Shukla.Over the course of the competition, the Odisha singer earned praise for several memorable performances. Her rendition of 'O Jab Tak Hai Jaan Jaane Jahan Main Nachungi' received a standing ovation from veteran actor Hema Malini, while her performance of 'Jaane Kyun Log Mohabbat Kiya Karte Hain' also won appreciation from actor Leena Chandavarkar.
'Winning Indian Idol feels like a dream come true'
Reacting to her victory, Jyotirmayee described winning the title as one of the biggest moments of her life.She also thanked the judges, host, production crew, her family, friends and viewers who voted for her.
"This trophy belongs to all those who believed in me. I hope to keep making music that touches people's hearts, helps me grow as an artist, and makes everyone proud," she added.
Singer says music therapy inspired her journey
Before entering Indian Idol, Jyotirmayee worked as a music therapist, using music to support cancer patients."Music therapy helped me gather blessings. I used to help cancer patients heal, and it is due to them that I managed to reach Indian Idol. When I used to sing to them, they would feel very happy and would say they wanted to see me on a platform like Indian Idol. When this happened, they were very happy," she said.
Journey from Odisha to the Indian Idol trophy
Reflecting on her journey, Jyotirmayee said she never focused on the prize money and instead concentrated on improving as a performer every week.She also revealed that facing elimination rounds was among the most challenging parts of the competition, but continued public support encouraged her to keep working hard.
The singer added that becoming the first Odia contestant to win Indian Idol made the achievement even more special and credited her parents for supporting her musical ambitions from the very beginning.
Star-studded grand finale
The grand finale featured judges Shreya Ghoshal, Vishal Dadlani and Badshah, while several renowned artists made special appearances, including Usha Uthup, Udit Narayan, Papon, Kumar Sanu, Shehnaaz Gill and Urmila Matondkar.The season, themed 'Yaadon Ki Playlist', proved popular with viewers and was extended twice during its run.

Judge Shreya Ghoshal congratulated all the contestants, saying every finalist had shown remarkable growth throughout the season."Watching these contestants grow throughout the season has been such a beautiful experience. Each one has brought their own individuality, sincerity, and love for music to the stage, making this journey truly memorable," she said.
"As we arrive at the Grand Finale, I feel immensely proud of how far they have come. No matter who lifts the trophy, I hope they continue believing in themselves because this is only the beginning of a wonderful musical journey," she added.
