Indian Coast Guard recruitment 2026: Check how to apply, eligibility, 365 Navik, Yantrik posts and salary

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has opened the application process for recruitment to 365 posts in the Indian Coast Guard. Eligible male and female Indian citizens can apply online from October 6 to October 21 through the official SSC website.

The recruitment covers posts including Navik (General Duty), Navik (Domestic Branch), Yantrik and Hygienist-I. Candidates must complete the registration and application process online and keep their registered email ID and mobile number safe, as these details will be required throughout the recruitment process.

October 6: SSC application process begins

The online application window opened on October 6. Candidates can submit their applications through ssc.gov.in until October 21.


Candidates must remember the email ID and mobile number used during registration. These details will be required to access the candidate dashboard, download the e-admit card and check results.

The Indian Coast Guard will not entertain requests to retrieve forgotten registered email IDs or mobile numbers.

Indian Coast Guard eligibility

Candidates must meet different educational requirements depending on the post.

For Navik (General Duty), applicants must have passed Class 12 with Mathematics and Physics from a board recognised by the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE).

For Navik (Domestic Branch), candidates must have passed Class 10 from a COBSE-recognised board.

For Hygienist-I, candidates must have passed matriculation or ITI or an equivalent qualification from a board recognised by the Central or State Government.

For Yantrik, candidates must have passed Class 10 from a COBSE-recognised board and hold a three- or four-year diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics or Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering approved by AICTE.

Candidates with Class 10 and Class 12 qualifications along with a two- or three-year AICTE-approved diploma in the relevant engineering disciplines are also eligible for the Yantrik post.

Check age eligibility before submitting form

The permitted date-of-birth range varies by post and batch.

For Navik (GD) 01/27 and 02/27 batches, candidates should have been born between November 1, 2005 and May 1, 2009.

For Yantrik 01/27, the eligible date-of-birth range is May 1, 2005 to May 1, 2009.

For Navik (DB) 02/27, candidates should have been born between November 1, 2005 and October 1, 2009.

For Hygienist-I 02/27, the applicable date-of-birth range is November 1, 2002 to October 1, 2009.

Stage I: Computer-based examination

The selection process will be conducted in four stages.

Stage I will be a one-hour computer-based examination containing 100 questions. Each question will carry one mark and there will be no negative marking.

The examination will be bilingual. Candidates belonging to the UR, EWS and OBC categories must secure at least 40 marks to qualify, while the qualifying mark for SC and ST candidates is 35.

Stage II: Physical and document checks

Candidates shortlisted after Stage I will proceed to Stage II.

This stage will include identity and biometric verification, a Physical Fitness Test (PFT), an Assessment and Adaptability Test and document verification.

The PFT will include a 1.6-km run, squats and push-ups/sit-ups. Separate physical standards will apply to male and female candidates.

Stage III: Shortlisting for INS Chilka

Candidates who clear Stages I and II and meet the required merit criteria will be provisionally shortlisted for Stage III.

This stage will be conducted at INS Chilka.

Stage IV: Final document authentication

The fourth stage will involve verification and authentication of candidates’ original educational and other documents by the concerned authorities.

Candidates will therefore need to ensure that their original documents are available for verification when required.

Salary: What selected candidates will receive

The Yantrik posts carry a basic pay of Rs 29,200 under Pay Level 5, along with Yantrik pay of Rs 6,200 and applicable allowances.

Navik (GD), Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I posts carry a basic pay of Rs 21,700 under Pay Level 3, along with applicable allowances.

Benefits and facilities

Selected personnel will be eligible for several benefits, including free ration and clothing, medical treatment for themselves and eligible family members, government accommodation or HRA, leave and LTC.

The benefits also include pension under NPS or UPS, gratuity, CSD facilities, ECHS medical benefits after retirement and Rs 75 lakh insurance cover under the Naval Group Insurance Fund.

Candidates interested in the recruitment should complete their applications before the October 21 deadline and retain their registration details for use throughout the selection process.
