- Why is Infantry Day celebrated in India?
Maharaja Hari Singh of Srinagar signed the accession instrument on 26 October 1947, after which Jammu and Kashmir became a part of India. This was unbearable for Pakistan, so they forcibly invaded the Indian territory, intending to occupy the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The first Battalion of the Sikh Regiment successfully halted the invaders' motion and fought bravely; however, many were martyred. - What was Lt. Col. Dewan Ranjit Rai's role?
Lt. Col. Dewan Ranjit Rai was awarded Maha Vir Chakra for his bravery while playing a critical role in blocking the Pakistani invaders. Unfortunately, he was martyred in the Baramulla area of Jammu & Kashmir.
