India are expected to make key changes to their lineup in a must-win clash against England in Match 20 of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 at Holkar Stadium, Indore. With their current five-bowler strategy proving ineffective in recent losses to South Africa and Australia, pacer Renuka Singh may return to the XI to support young seamer Kranti Gaud and strengthen the bowling unit.

Openers Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana, who scored fluent half-centuries in the previous match, are likely to retain their spots, while the middle order—featuring captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues—faces scrutiny due to lack of form.

Probable playing XIs

India Women (probable): Pratika Rawal, Smriti Mandhana, Harleen Deol, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wk), Amanjot Kaur, Sneh Rana, Kranti Gaud, Shree Charani

England Women (probable): Tammy Beaumont, Amy Jones (wk), Heather Knight, Nat Sciver-Brunt (c), Sophia Dunkley, Emma Lamb, Alice Capsey, Charlotte Dean, Sarah Glenn, Em Arlott, Linsey Smith

The toss is scheduled for 2:30 PM IST.

India face must-win game to stay in World Cup race

India go into this game needing a win to keep their semi-final hopes alive after consecutive defeats in the group stage. With only two wins from five matches, the margin for error is now minimal for Harmanpreet Kaur’s side. A reshuffle in the team composition is expected as they attempt to address both bowling depth and batting stability.

England unbeaten

England, currently unbeaten, sit in a strong position on the table but have experienced batting collapses in matches against Bangladesh and Pakistan. Their success has largely been driven by their bowling unit, led by Sophie Ecclestone, who is recovering from illness and remains central to their plans on a batting-friendly Holkar pitch.

India vs England: Head-to-head in WODIs

The rivalry between the two sides is well-matched. Out of 79 WODIs played so far, England Women have won 41 and India Women 36, with two matches ending in no result or a tie.
