India weather (August 29): IMD expects very heavy rain in Odisha; rain and thunderstorms likely in several states

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Odisha, while heavy rain is likely across several states in eastern, northeastern, central and northern India. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also expected in parts of the country, while strong surface winds may prevail over Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana.
