Independence Day 2025 Live Streaming: When and where to watch PM Modi’s Flag hoisting and speech from Red Fort

India will celebrate its 79th Independence Day on Friday, August 15, 2025. As per tradition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will raise the National Flag at the Red Fort in New Delhi, followed by his annual address to the nation. This marks PM Modi’s 12th consecutive Independence Day speech since taking office in 2014 and his first after beginning his third term earlier this year.

When to watch the Prime Minister’s address

The event will start at 7:30 am with official greetings from dignitaries, the national anthem, and a ceremonial 21-gun salute. The Prime Minister will then deliver his address from the Red Fort, outlining the government’s priorities, achievements, and future vision.

The speech will be broadcast live on Doordarshan, streamed on the Press Information Bureau’s official YouTube channel, and shared on X (formerly Twitter) under the handle @PIB_India. It will also be available on the Prime Minister’s Office YouTube page. Additional live streaming will be provided on ddnews.gov.in, pmindia.gov.in, and the National Informatics Centre’s Independence Day portal at independenceday.nic.in.

The day commemorates the sacrifices of freedom fighters while highlighting the nation’s progress in areas such as economic reforms, technology, social development, and culture, as well as the challenges and opportunities ahead.

President Droupadi Murmu will deliver her address to the nation on Thursday, August 14, 2025, on the eve of Independence Day. “This will be her fourth such address since assuming office in 2022.” The broadcast will begin at 7 pm IST on Akashvani and Doordarshan, first in Hindi and then in English.
