A wedding ceremony in NTR district took a dramatic turn when a bride reportedly walked out with her lover moments before the sacred marriage ritual was to be completed. The unexpected incident stunned hundreds of guests and forced the wedding to be called off.

The episode occurred at a function hall in a village under the Mylavaram constituency on Friday evening, where families had gathered for what was meant to be a grand traditional wedding.

Wedding Ceremony Halted Moments Before Sacred Ritual

According to reports, the wedding rituals were progressing normally with traditional music and celebrations when relatives and guests gathered around the mandapam (wedding stage) for the Jeelakarra Bellam ceremony.

This ritual, an important part of traditional Telugu weddings, involves the bride and groom placing a paste made of cumin seeds and jaggery on each other’s heads, symbolising the beginning of their marital bond.

However, just moments before the groom could tie the mangalsutra around the bride’s neck, an unexpected development brought the ceremony to an abrupt halt.

Bride Publicly Declares Relationship With Another Man

Witnesses said a young man suddenly entered the function hall and approached the stage, leaving guests confused. The bride reportedly stood up and walked towards him, shocking everyone present at the venue.

She then informed the gathering that the man was her lover and that they had been in a relationship for some time. The bride also reportedly stated that she did not wish to go ahead with the marriage arranged by her family.

Her announcement stunned the groom and his relatives, while hundreds of guests watched the dramatic scene unfold in silence.

Tensions Rise at Venue as Guests React

The sudden revelation created tension at the venue, with some guests confronting the young man and accusing him of disrupting the wedding.

Police soon arrived at the function hall and intervened to ensure that the situation did not escalate into a physical altercation. Authorities managed to calm both sides, and the wedding ceremony was eventually called off.

Groom’s Family Claims Rs 20 Lakh Spent on Wedding

The groom’s family later stated that they had spent nearly Rs 20 lakh on wedding arrangements, including decorations, catering, and inviting hundreds of relatives and villagers.

Although the incident caused embarrassment and disappointment for both families, no formal police complaint has reportedly been filed.

Village Elders Step In to Resolve Dispute

On Saturday, village elders organised a meeting between both families in an attempt to resolve the issue amicably.

As per TOI sources, the bride’s parents agreed to compensate part of the wedding expenses incurred by the groom’s family, bringing the matter closer to a settlement within the community.
