Delhi is likely to witness light rain by evening or late evening today

IMD Weather tomorrow: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across several parts of North, East, Central and Northeast India over the next four to five days, with some states likely to witness very heavy to extremely heavy rain.

According to the latest IMD weather update, heavy rainfall is expected over north Punjab and north Haryana on Friday (July 11), while Delhi is likely to receive light rain by evening or late evening. The weather department has also warned of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in several regions.


Here's a look at where rain is expected over the coming week.

Delhi likely to receive light rain today

Residents of the national capital may get some relief from humid weather as Delhi is expected to witness light rainfall by evening or late evening, according to the IMD. Neighbouring north Punjab and north Haryana are expected to receive heavy rainfall on Friday.

Heavy rain to continue over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

The IMD has predicted widespread rainfall over the Himalayan states over the next several days.

Himachal Pradesh

  • Widespread rainfall from July 11 to July 15
  • Heavy rainfall likely between July 11 and July 14
  • Isolated showers may continue on July 16 and 17

Uttarakhand

  • Widespread rainfall from July 11 to July 17
  • Heavy rainfall likely throughout the period
  • Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected.

Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh under rain watch

The weather department has forecast scattered rainfall across much of northwest India.

Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi

  • Rainfall likely between July 11 and July 17
  • Heavy rainfall expected on July 11 and 12

Uttar Pradesh

  • East Uttar Pradesh is likely to receive widespread rainfall on July 11
  • Heavy rainfall is expected from July 12 to July 15
  • Very heavy rainfall is also likely on July 11
West Uttar Pradesh is expected to receive scattered showers through the week.

Jammu and Kashmir may see thunderstorms and gusty winds

Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and adjoining areas are likely to experience:

  • Widespread rainfall on July 11 and 12
  • Scattered rainfall from July 13 to July 17
  • Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph, with gusts up to 60 kmph
  • Heavy rainfall on July 11 and 12

Central India to receive fresh spell of rain

Several parts of Central India are expected to remain under the influence of active monsoon conditions.

Madhya Pradesh

  • Rain likely from July 11 to July 17
  • Heavy rainfall expected in eastern Madhya Pradesh between July 14 and July 17
  • Thunderstorms and gusty winds likely in several districts

Chhattisgarh

  • Rain forecast throughout the week
  • Heavy rainfall expected from July 11 to July 15
  • Widespread rainfall likely from July 14 to July 17

Vidarbha

  • Rain likely through July 17
  • Thunderstorms and gusty winds expected between July 13 and July 15

Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha to witness heavy rainfall

Eastern India is expected to remain under an active monsoon spell.

Bihar

  • Widespread rainfall from July 11 to July 13
  • Heavy rainfall between July 13 and July 15
  • Very heavy rainfall likely on July 11 and 12

Jharkhand

  • Rain likely through July 17
  • Heavy rainfall expected from July 12 to July 14
  • Thunderstorms possible during the weekend

West Bengal

Both Gangetic West Bengal and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim are likely to receive widespread rainfall.

  • Gangetic West Bengal from July 11 to 13 and again July 16 and 17
  • Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on July 13, 14 and 17
Very heavy rainfall is also likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on July 11 and 12.

Odisha

  • Rain expected from July 11 to July 17
  • Heavy rainfall likely from July 11 to July 15
  • Thunderstorms with gusty winds are also forecast.

Northeast India to remain under intense monsoon activity

The IMD has predicted widespread rainfall across all northeastern states throughout the week.

Heavy rainfall is likely over:

  • Arunachal Pradesh
  • Assam
  • Meghalaya
  • Nagaland
  • Manipur
  • Mizoram
  • Tripura
Notably, Meghalaya is likely to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rainfall on July 11, while Assam and Meghalaya may witness very heavy rainfall on July 12.

Konkan, Goa and western India to continue receiving showers

Along the western coast, monsoon activity is expected to remain active.

Konkan and Goa

  • Widespread rainfall from July 11 to July 17

Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch

  • Scattered rainfall throughout the week

Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada

  • Light to moderate rainfall expected through July 17

South India likely to see scattered rain

Several southern states are also expected to receive rain over the coming days.

Kerala and Mahe

  • Widespread rainfall on July 11
  • Continued rainfall from July 12 to July 17

Coastal Karnataka

  • Widespread rainfall throughout the week

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal

  • Scattered rainfall through July 17
  • Thunderstorms and gusty winds expected on July 11

Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema

  • Intermittent rainfall likely over the next week

IMD advises people to stay alert

With heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds expected across several states, residents are advised to monitor the latest IMD forecasts and local weather advisories before planning travel or outdoor activities.

Low-lying areas may experience waterlogging, while hilly regions remain vulnerable to landslides and slippery roads during periods of intense rainfall.

As the southwest monsoon remains active, several parts of the country are likely to continue receiving rain over the coming week, bringing both relief from heat and the possibility of weather-related disruptions.
