Delhi Exam Cheating Racket Busted: 10+ Entrance Tests Under Scanner
Delhi Police has uncovered a large-scale online exam cheating racket in Dwarka, revealing that the network may have manipulated more than 10 entrance examinations over the past year. The case has raised serious concerns about the security of online tests, with as many as 32 students from reputed colleges now under investigation.

How the Online Entrance Exam Fraud Was Carried Out

According to investigators, the gang relied on remote desktop software for exam cheating, allowing external solvers to take control of candidates’ systems during live exams. Once question papers were released, they were quickly accessed, photographed, and circulated within closed groups for rapid solutions. These answers were then fed back into the candidates’ exams, enabling them to cheat in entrance tests for top government and private colleges across Delhi and other states.

Key Accused Used ‘Fake Internship’ to Recruit Students

Further probe revealed that an absconding, Pranjal, an engineering graduate, played a crucial role in expanding the network. He allegedly recruited high-performing students from premier institutes under the guise of an internship programme.

“We have learned that Pranjal lured his friends and tasked them with recruiting high-achieving second- or third-year students who were proficient in different subjects,” a police source told TOI.

The students were reportedly promised payment in exchange for solving exam papers, with many initially unaware of the illegal nature of the work.

Raid in Dwarka Leads to Arrest, 32 Students Bound Down

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh said that authorities received inputs about suspicious activity in Sector 23 on April 6. During the raid, 33 individuals were found at the location.

One accused, Harsh Vardhan, 28, was arrested, while the remaining 32 students were bound down as part of the probe.

An investigator told TOI that around 15 individuals admitted to directly solving exam papers, while others claimed they were present for a party. Police are currently verifying these statements.

Students from Top Institutes Linked to the Racket

Those involved reportedly include students from reputed institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology, Delhi Technological University, Maharaja Agrasen College, and National Institute of Technology.

The involvement of students from prestigious colleges has intensified the debate around academic integrity and exam fraud in India.

Chain-Based Network Targeted Aspirants for Paid Admissions

Police said the gang operated through a structured chain system, assigning specific roles to members. Harsh Vardhan allegedly identified aspirants who had failed competitive exams but were still keen on securing admission to top institutions.

The gang even advertised its services on social media, claiming it could guarantee admissions. Candidates were reportedly charged between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh.

WhatsApp Groups and Tech Tools Enabled Real-Time Cheating

The network maintained multiple WhatsApp groups divided by subjects such as physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Experts were added to each group to provide quick solutions.

Members allegedly coordinated with examination centres and used technology to access question papers instantly, making the online exam fraud system highly efficient and difficult to detect.

Next Target: Management Entrance Exam in Jaipur

Investigators revealed that the gang was planning to target a management entrance exam for a reputed Mumbai-based institute. The test was scheduled to take place at an IT lab in Jaipur.

“So far, we have come to know that they may have been involved in at least 10 such examinations, which are being verified,” a source told TOI.
