What was meant to be a joyous birthday celebration in Hanoi, Vietnam, quickly turned into a nightmare for Giang Pham after a balloon explosion left her with facial burns. The terrifying incident, which happened on 14 February, has now gone viral after Giang shared her story on social media.

"As the celebration wrapped up, she stood on stage with a birthday cake in one hand and the balloons in the other," reported Baohaiduong.
What happened next was nothing short of horrifying.
In a split second, the balloons brushed against the cake’s lit candles, triggering a massive explosion. Flames erupted, and before she could react, her face was engulfed in fire.
"I doused my face with water to ease the burning sensation before being taken to the hospital," she shared.
It took her six days to gather the courage to even watch the video of the accident.
"I cried all day because I didn't know what my life and work would be like after being burned on my face like that," she admitted.
Doctors later confirmed that she had suffered first- and second-degree burns. While they reassured her that there would be no permanent scars, she was told that it could take months for her skin colour to fully recover.

The situation could have been much worse.
"When the balloon exploded, the fire flared up, rising high and burning the entire array of balloons the restaurant had prepared. Luckily, these balloons contained normal air, otherwise, it could have led to a serious fire," she added.
The Moment Everything Went Wrong
Giang was celebrating her birthday at a restaurant, surrounded by beautiful decorations and balloons.
