ICC World Cup 2023: India's anthem unleashes cricket fever and stunning jersey transformation

With just a fortnight left until the highly anticipated ICC World Cup 2023, cricket enthusiasts witnessed an exciting turn of events. On Wednesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the official anthem, "Dil Jashn Bole," for this year's World Cup, set to be hosted in India. The anthem's release sparked mixed reactions on social media. However, shortly after this revelation, Adidas, the official kit partner for the Indian cricket team, presented their own anthem titled "Impossible Nahi Ye Sapna, 3 Ka Dream Hai Apna." This 2-minute and 21-second anthem resonates with India's aspirations to secure their third ODI World Cup victory.

India's cricket journey in the ODI World Cup has witnessed two historic moments. Kapil Dev led India to their inaugural ODI World Cup triumph in 1983, followed by a long-awaited victory under the leadership of MS Dhoni in 2011. In between, India clinched another World Cup in 2007, albeit in the T20 format.

The Adidas anthem features prominent cricketing personalities, including India's captain Rohit Sharma, superstar Virat Kohli, vice-captain Hardik Pandya, young sensation Shubman Gill, fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur, versatile all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, and spinner Kuldeep Yadav.


The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted, "1983 - the spark. 2011 - the glory. 2023 - the dream. Impossible nahi yeh sapna, #3kaDream hai apna."


Beyond its catchy rap and inspirational message aimed at ending India's quest for an ICC trophy, the anthem's accompanying video also offered a glimpse of India's World Cup jersey.

Significantly, India's World Cup 2023 jersey introduces a noteworthy change from the attire they donned during the recently-concluded Asia Cup. The previous three white shoulder stripes have been replaced with India's tricolor, featuring vibrant orange, white, and green stripes. This alteration has garnered praise from netizens, elevating India's World Cup jersey to new heights. Another notable change is the absence of the Dream11 logo during the World Cup, as ICC regulations permit only the team's name in the center of the jersey.

Despite their ICC title drought since the Champions Trophy win in 2013, India enters the ODI World Cup as one of the top contenders. Their formidable squad, recent stellar performances, and familiarity with home conditions position them as strong contenders. India further honed their skills by securing a record eighth Asia Cup title, serving as an excellent prelude to the World Cup.

The two-time ODI World Cup champions are set to commence their campaign on October 8 in Chennai, facing off against Australia. Meanwhile, the tournament opener will see England and New Zealand squaring off in Ahmedabad, setting the stage for a thrilling rematch of the last edition's final.
