Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has climbed two places to become the world No. 2 T20I batter in the latest ICC rankings released on Wednesday (March 11). The 27-year-old cricketer from Patna, who represents Jharkhand in domestic cricket, impressed with his performances during the T20 World Cup 2026. He scored 39 runs off 18 balls against England in the semifinal and followed it up with a 54-run knock off 25 balls against New Zealand in the final.

Kishan now has 871 rating points, placing him just four points behind world No. 1 batter Abhishek Sharma, who has 875 rating points.

Changes in the Top Batters’ Rankings

Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan, who ended the T20 World Cup 2026 as the tournament’s highest run-scorer, slipped to the third position in the rankings. Meanwhile, New Zealand opener Tim Seifert made a notable jump of four places to move up to No. 6 among T20I batters.


Sanju Samson Achieves Career-Best Rating

India’s Sanju Samson also saw a major rise in the rankings. His impressive 89-run innings against England and New Zealand helped him move 18 places up to 22nd position, compared to 40th place last week.

With this jump, Samson has now reached a career-best 637 rating points in the ICC T20I batting rankings.

Rashid Khan Reclaims No. 1 Spot in Bowling Rankings

In the T20I bowlers’ rankings, India’s Varun Chakaravarthy lost the top position after holding it for more than five months. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan moved up one place to reclaim the No. 1 spot, with 753 rating points, while Chakaravarthy slipped to second place with 740 points.

Bumrah and Axar Patel Gain in Bowling Rankings

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah delivered a standout performance in the T20 World Cup final, picking up 4 wickets for 15 runs in the match that India won by 96 runs. His performance helped him climb to No. 6 in the T20I bowlers’ rankings, moving up from seventh place.

Axar Patel also impressed in the final, taking three wickets, which helped him jump six places to No. 17 in the rankings.

Shivam Dube Drops in All-Rounders’ Rankings

In the list of T20I all-rounders, India’s Shivam Dube dropped two places and is now ranked 11th with 195 rating points.
