Shantanu Naidu with Ratan Tata
Shantanu Naidu, who worked closely with Ratan Tata before his passing in 2024, has announced his new role at Tata Motors. In a LinkedIn post, Naidu shared that he will be joining the company as General Manager, Head - Strategic Initiatives.

"I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as General Manager, Head - Strategic Initiatives at Tata Motors!" Naidu wrote in his post.

Naidu Announces Fresh Start

Reflecting on his journey, Naidu recalled his childhood memories of his father working at Tata Motors. "I remember when my father used to walk home from the Tata Motors plant, in his white shirt and navy pants, and I would wait for him in the window. It comes full circle now," he added.

Naidu's Long association with Ratan Tata

Naidu's association with Ratan Tata dates back to 2014, when their shared love for dogs brought them together. As a fifth-generation Tata employee, Naidu had approached Tata for support in creating glow-in-the-dark collars for stray dogs to prevent road accidents. Within two months, Tata invited him to Mumbai, leading to the launch of the Motopaws project.

Over time, their professional relationship evolved into a close friendship, strengthened by their mutual passion for animal welfare. Tata played a key role in supporting Motopaws, Naidu’s initiative dedicated to the safety of stray dogs. Naidu often referred to Tata as his "Millennial Dumbledore" for his wisdom and kindness.

Other ventures and social initiatives

Beyond Motopaws, Naidu also founded Good Fellows, a startup aimed at connecting elderly individuals with young companions. On the company’s website, he described his strong bond with older generations, saying that many of his closest friends had "silver hair and hearts of gold."
