However, the unexpected attention also created difficulties. Large crowds began approaching her constantly, forcing her to leave the Kumbh event earlier than planned after repeated instances of crowd harassment.
Despite leaving the fair, her popularity continued to grow online.
“What could be a bigger achievement than people coming to meet me even after I returned to Indore?” she posted on X on January 28.
Her social media pages now feature simple videos about village life and discussions about Rudraksha beads. These posts helped her gather more than four lakh followers on Instagram.
Film offers followed viral fame
The viral attention soon opened the door to film opportunities.Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra cast her in the lead role of the film The Diary of Manipur. Teasers linked to the project were reportedly released during the Kumbh period in Prayagraj.
She is also said to have signed two other film projects — the Telugu film Life and a Malayalam film titled Nagamma.
In one video recorded beside a poster of Pushpa 2, Monalisa hinted at her film ambitions and said: “Today outside the poster, tomorrow inside. That's the cycle of time.”
Her journey from selling malas at a religious gathering to appearing on film sets quickly became a widely discussed story on social media.
Monalisa's relationship with Farman Khan
During this period, Monalisa reportedly met Farman Khan, an actor and model from Maharashtra.Reports say the two connected through social media and later met on a film set. Their friendship gradually turned into a relationship.
“Farman himself shared that he is an actor and first met Monalisa on a film set. Their friendship soon blossomed into love,” reports note.
According to the reports, Monalisa was the one who proposed first.
The relationship, however, faced resistance from her family, mainly because of religious differences. Her father, Jai Singh Bhosle, reportedly began looking for another marriage proposal for her.
Temple wedding in Kerala
Amid the disagreement, Monalisa and Farman chose to marry away from home. The couple travelled to Kerala and tied the knot at the Nenar temple in Thiruvananthapuram. Viral videos from the ceremony show Monalisa wearing a red saree with sindoor, while Farman appears in a white shirt and mundu.
The couple reportedly sought police help before the wedding due to opposition from family members.
“My family wanted to get me married somewhere far away, but I didn't like that,” she said in an Instagram reel confirming the marriage.
The newly married couple is now said to be planning to stay in Kerala after the ceremony, while the unexpected turn of events continues to spark debate and emotional reactions online.

Monalisa also responded to rumours circulating online that claimed she was underage. She dismissed those claims as false and misleading, saying the reports had no basis in reality.“I am 18 years old. I got married according to Hindu rituals. It is not ‘love jihad.’ I respect all religions and consider every religion equal,” she said.
Her husband also backed her statement and said their marriage had been officially registered. He pointed out that the registration process would not have been possible if she had been a minor.
Couple Seeks Police Protection
Reports said the couple had earlier gone to the Thampanoor police station on Wednesday to seek protection. The move came after Monalisa’s father allegedly tried to take her back to their hometown in Madhya Pradesh against her wishes.Police officials reportedly told the family that Monalisa is an adult and therefore legally free to decide whom she wants to marry.
Her father, Jaisingh Bhonsle, however, claimed that she had been brought to Kerala with promises of acting work. He alleged that she had been convinced to travel there on the pretext of film opportunities.
Adding to the family’s concerns, Monalisa’s uncle said the relatives were worried because they were not well educated and feared she might have been influenced through “black magic.”
