Boss rants after three employees resign
Generally, decision of people quitting their jobs are not well received by their bosses. While a few bosses are considerate enough to support their employees' decision to change jobs for better career growth, majority of them don't endorse such moves. A similar case has come to light where three employees recently resigned from their company, seeking better opportunities, but their resignation did not go down well with their boss. Not surprising actually. But their boss's response to their resignations, widely shared on social media, has sparked significant discussion.

Responding to their resignations to a "tone-deaf" email, the boss not only extended the notice period to three months but also implemented a salary deduction. Additionally, the employees were instructed to train their replacements and take on an extra 30 hours of overtime per week until new employees are found and fully trained.

Expressing disappointment, the boss communicated the decision to all employees in an official email and
announced changes to company policies. The boss noted the resignations’ impact on the team and their own schedule, stating, "Your ‘better opportunities’ (doubtful. we pay you all fair wages) are really worth affecting your team members’ quality of life? I myself have children and instead of being at their band recital this week I will have to be sitting at work posting job offers on Indeed instead. This is outrageous."

"You all need to speak amongst yourselves and plan these things out so you don’t leave a company high and dry all at once. The lack of consideration from employees I previously had a different impression of is astounding,” the boss said in the email that was sent to all the employees," the boss said in the email.

The email also detailed new policies requiring departing employees to serve a three-month notice period and accept a pay deduction.

“You will give 3 months notice and train your replacement in the mean time, and your 3 months notice will serve as your consent for your base pay to be lowered by $6/ hour. Since you will be leaving your reduction in pay should be no issue. That’s how this works from now on. You can thank your insubordinates for this. You can also thank them for the extra 30 hours of overtime per week you will be assigned to until I find new hires and they are fully trained,” the mail further read.

How netizens reacted

This email was shared on Instagram's Threads by a user called "@quitbytext." Many users who saw the post voiced their opinions on the boss's response. One user commented, "And now we know why three people quit at once in an absolutely coordinated move. Someone should send this to the local labor board."

Another added, "I wouldn’t even respond. $6/hr is illegal and I’d sue." A third user noted, "I’ve heard that people leave managers, not jobs. This guy is out to prove it."

The shared email and subsequent reactions have highlighted ongoing conversations about workplace management and employee treatment.
