'I love you mummy...': Ex-YouTuber Bonu Komali, 20, texts mother in Kuwait, found dead at her Hyderabad house

A 20-year-old undergraduate student allegedly died by suicide in Hyderabad, reportedly over 'unrequited love' for a 27-year-old software engineer. The victim, identified as Bonu Komali, had earlier worked for a YouTube channel to make social media content and died by suicide at her rented flat in Manikonda, reports times of India.

According to police, Bonu Komali sent a message to her mother, B Satya Varalakshmi at 1.34am on Feb 23. Her message reportedly read, "I love you mummy so much. Jagratha. Thammudini baaga chusuko (Take care of younger brother)." The mother, who works as a babysitter in Kuwait, tried calling repeatedly, but Komali’s phone was switched off. She then contacted Komali’s friend Manasa and asked her to check on her. Manasa reached the apartment around 3 pm and found the door latched from inside.

When repeated knocks went unanswered, she alerted neighbours and called the police. “Our team broke the door latch and found her hanging from the ceiling fan,” Raidurgam inspector Ch Venkanna told TOI.

In her complaint, Varalakshmi told police that Komali had attempted suicide about six months earlier and it was during that time that she learned her daughter had been in love with a 27-year-old software professional for the past three years. Investigators recovered a diary in which Komali had written about her emotions, describing three years of unreciprocated love. “Even a day before the suicide, she called him to her flat and expressed her love but he told her he was not interested. He even messaged her recently not to harass him,” the inspector said.

According to Raidurgam police, Bonu Komali, a native of Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam, was pursuing BSc first year at a private college in Maisammaguda. For the past 11 months, she was staying at a flat in LIG Chitrapuri Colony, Manikonda.
