A woman on TikTok has gone viral for her unconventional lifestyle choice—ditching traditional housing altogether to save money. Destinee, who has thousands of followers, shared that she was fed up with spending nearly $2,000 a month on rent and bills. So, instead of struggling with those costs, she made a bold decision: she chose to be homeless.

From Car Living to Office Sleeping

Initially, Destinee tried the car life, like many others looking for an affordable alternative. But that didn’t last long, her car was damaged and quickly became unlivable. “I slept in that car for so many nights without air and heat,” she revealed in one of her TikTok videos.



That’s when she decided to have an honest chat with her employer. She straight-up told them she was sleeping at work, and surprisingly, they didn’t kick her out. Now, she rests in a small room at her workplace, complete with a recliner, a lamp, a wash basin, and a mini fridge.

To keep up with hygiene, she showers and gets ready at a gym where she pays just $20 a month for a membership. She also rents a storage unit for $75 a month to keep her belongings safe. Compared to her previous $2,000 expenses, that’s a massive downgrade in costs!

Destinee wants people to know that being homeless by choice doesn’t mean struggling for food. “When I tell people I’m homeless, they think I dig in dumpsters to get food, but that’s not true. I chose this life because I was tired of paying bills. Now I live rent-free and eat ribs,” she said while showing off her meal. She even uses a meal-prep service to keep things convenient.

Her desk drawers? Those are her wardrobe. Her online orders? She picks them up from Amazon lockers. And dating? She still does it, but she waits until the third date to tell potential partners about her living situation. “It hasn’t been an issue so far,” she said. “If you have a problem with me dating, just remember—I’m homeless by choice, and unlike you, I don’t have any rent to pay.”
