Aam Aadmi Party Member of Parliament Raghav Chadha launched a direct counter-offensive against his party’s leadership on Saturday, characterizing his removal from the position of deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha as part of a coordinated and scripted campaign to muzzle his parliamentary interventions. Responding via a video message on X, Chadha dismissed three core accusations involving his conduct during Opposition protests and his alleged refusal to support a motion to impeach the Chief Election Commissioner. The MP, who has been replaced in the upper house by Ashok Mittal, challenged the party to verify official records, asserting that the charges against him were selective and aimed at delegitimizing his performance as a representative of Punjab and Delhi.

Raghav Chadha Rebuts AAP Walkout Claims

Addressing allegations that he failed to participate in collective Opposition actions, Raghav Chadha stated that the AAP was lying regarding his supposed refusal to stage walkouts. He asserted that CCTV footage from Parliament remains available as an objective record of his attendance and participation. Chadha challenged the party leadership to produce a single instance where he did not exit the chamber alongside other Opposition members during a protest, labeling the accusation as a baseless attempt to portray him as out of sync with the party’s floor strategy.

Denial of Impeachment Motion Refusal

Regarding the party's claim that he refused to sign a motion for the impeachment of the Chief Election Commissioner, Chadha clarified that he was never asked to sign the document in the first place. He further noted that out of the 10 AAP MPs in the Rajya Sabha, approximately 6 to 7 members had also not signed the motion. In his video message, the MP questioned the logic behind his removal, asking why he was being specifically targeted for a perceived lapse that applied to the majority of the party’s parliamentary wing.

Parliamentary Record and Future Intent

Chadha countered the label of being "scared" by highlighting his history of raising critical issues such as Punjab’s water crisis, Delhi’s pollution, unemployment, and women’s menstrual leave. He stated that his role in Parliament was to raise the people’s issues rather than engage in shouting or the destruction of property. Concluding his response with a 'Dhurandhar' reference, he warned that the campaign against him would be unmasked, ending with the statement: "Ghayal hoon isiliye ghatak hoon" ('I am wounded that's why I am dangerous.') This development follows the AAP's decision to formally replace Chadha as its deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha with Ashok Mittal.
