Hyundai is testing its next-generation Creta. The popular SUV will see major design changes, adopting a squarer, more assertive look. It will likely grow in size and move to a new platform for better safety and space. Engine options may remain,...

Exterior and design updates
The upcoming Creta appears to adopt a more upright and elongated stance, moving away from the current model’s rounded styling. The design reflects a shift towards a squarer and more assertive SUV profile, in line with global trends. The front fascia is expected to feature a flat bonnet, rectangular headlamp signature, and a boxier silhouette, giving it a more traditional SUV appearance.
From the side, the SUV showcases new alloy wheels, dual-tone ORVMs with integrated indicators, and a slightly tapering roofline. Pixel-inspired lighting elements and redesigned bumpers are also visible. Overall, the vehicle appears wider, more planted, and more premium in its road presence.
In terms of dimensions, the next-generation model is likely to grow from the current length of 4,330 mm to around 4,500 mm, positioning it closer to larger rivals such as Kia Seltos.
Platform and engineering
The third-generation Creta is expected to transition to Hyundai-Kia’s K3 platform. This new architecture is aimed at improving structural rigidity, crash safety, and noise, vibration, and harshness levels, while also enabling better cabin space and packaging.
Engine and electrification plans
The SUV is likely to retain its existing 1.5-litre engine lineup in India, including naturally aspirated petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel options. These are expected to be paired with multiple transmission choices such as manual, CVT, DCT, and torque converter automatic gearboxes.
A key upgrade could come in the form of electrification. Reports indicate that Hyundai may introduce a strong hybrid variant after launch, positioning the Creta against hybrid competitors like Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
Interior and safety features
Inside the cabin, the next-generation Creta is expected to see a significant upgrade. It may feature larger infotainment and instrument displays, a redesigned steering wheel with Hyundai’s updated four-dot logo, and an improved user interface.
The SUV could also offer enhanced connected car technology, expanded advanced driver assistance systems, and comfort features such as Boss Mode and improved rear seat ergonomics. Safety upgrades are also anticipated in response to increasing competition in the segment.
Launch timeline and competition
The next-generation Hyundai Creta is expected to be launched around 2027, although the company has not made any official announcement yet.
